Surface Preparation & Application🛠️ Surface Preparation
To ensure maximum direct-to-metal bonding and performance, all substrates must be clean, dry, and free of contamination.
- Mild Steel: Remove all oil, grease, and mill scale. Abrasive blast-clean to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2½ to create a uniform 40–50 micron profile. For small or light industrial projects, clean via mechanical sanding or wire-brushing to St 3 minimum. [1]
- Aluminum & Galvanized Steel: Clean with an appropriate degreaser, follow with a light hand-abrasion (using a non-metallic pad) to remove any zinc salts or oxidation, and ensure a clean profile. [1]
- Existing Coatings: Ensure the old finish is sound, clean, and soundly adhered. Scuff-sand with P320–P400 grit to create a mechanical anchor profile before application.

- Conventional / Airless Spraying: Highly recommended for optimal automotive and large-scale industrial finishes. Use a 1.4mm to 1.8mm nozzle setup for gravity-fed equipment.
- Brush or Roller: Suitable for small components, touch-ups, or stripe-coating edges. Multiple coats may be required to achieve target dry film thickness.
